DXM-assisted wet dreams

I tried to search for this first, but I suppose the query was too broad to get an appropriate answer.

I've read that several people have used dissociatives such as ketamine to aid in ceasing symptoms of wd. My question is would DXM perform similarly? SWIM has used DXM recreationally a handful of times and absolutely hated his experiences (2nd plateau) and he only wants to try this if it requires a lower dose than would be used recreationally. He doesn't want to go anywhere near a dose that would hugely mess with his perception of reality.

If swiy has tried this please give details of opiate being abused and amount of DXM required to treat. SWIM has been using anywhere between 30-60mg of hydrocodone a day for about 3 years on-and-off and most-recently used it for five months, every day, after being clean for a month and this generally seems to be the pattern of his abuse. He is experiencing mostly chilling/sweating/irritability/depression. He can't shake the habit mostly due to the fact that he cannot willfully allow himself to be sick and depressed and the fix is always close. It should be said that he suffers from chronic back pain (about a 6-7 out of 10 on the chart) from sciatica and he also doesn't want to trade one addiction for another.

Thoughts? All other suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: DXM-assisted wd

Swim has found dxm to be useful in the shortterm while dealing with opiate withdrawals.Unfortunately the day after swiy may very well have a hangover and this will make the opiate withdrawals even more difficult to deal with. This was swims major problem trying to treat opiate withdrawals with dxm.

Re: DXM-assisted wd

this is disscussed in another thread so i'll just copy and paste swims opinion from the other post-

swim has used 500mg of dxm (stolen) to try to alleviate heroin withdrawl (had moderate-high habit at the time) when swim had no money to use, bottom line it made the withdrawls worse (increase nausea, more aware of physical dicomfort, only minor reduction of mental craving which only lasted for begining of trip) . all it did was produce a tripping dope sick individual. swim had to beg a friend for money to get jammed to alleviate the pain while still tripping.

Re: DXM-assisted wd

A pair of rooming lab rats had been administered codeine off and on for some time, enough to build a physical dependency. After the first day of withdrawl, the rats were given high doses of ketamine. Both rats immediately experienced an intense surge of withdrawl preceding the ketamine experience. Both rats experienced hot flashes, muscle aching, and found taking giant craps in a pitch black shitter on the front end of a psuedo-psychedelic experience more than necessary. Once the ketamine took effect, the mu agonism elliminated the withdrawl.

This felt qualitatively similar to the effect of taking buprenorphine during periods of opiate use to one rat.

DXM had no noticeable effect on one of the rats withdrawl, with doses ranging from 30-90mg. Just made it more nauseating and exhausting, perhaps intensified the withdrawl in a similar way to ket.
