Opiate interaction/tolerance question

Let's say a guy did oxycodone every weekend for a month and then tried heroin. Would he be tolerant to the heroin at all?

Re: Opiate interaction/tolerance question

Yes they would be tolerant of heroin, as far as i know all opiates/opioids are cross tolerant because they all act pretty much in the same way by binding to the mu-opioid receptor.

Even although there will be tolerance, care much still be taken when using anything new especially when it will be anyone's guess as to the purity of a street drug such as heroin. Even more caution is advised if the drug is going to be injected and even snorted, as many here say, you can always add but never subtract. So start low, see what can be handled and go from there. Smoking would be the safest option and although it is unlikely to overdose from smoking, it is still possible.

Re: Opiate interaction/tolerance question

Oh that sucks but it was just a question of curiosity as SWIM will probably never get to try either.

Re: Opiate interaction/tolerance question

Since it is just every weekend then the tolerance certainly wouldn't be much. To be honest, i had it in my head that it was every day and not every weekend when i made that post, i need to be more careful in future.

Basically if there has been little or no tolerance build up from doing one opioid like oxycodone, then there will be no tolerance for another like heroin. This works both ways, as i said, if there is a build of tolerance to one, then there will be a build up to another. Of course, the potency of different opioids must be taken in to account.
