Experiences - kava kava and benzos

swim takes klonopin(clonazepam) 1mg twice daily. would it be safe to drink kava tea. if it is safe could swim add more k-boy to intensify the effects of the combination.

swim cant believe no one who takes benzos has tried kava.(swim went through 4 pages of the drug combinations forum to make sure it hasnt already been discussed;swims to lazy to look through them all lol) any help would be much appreciated. swim has been on a jorney to find kava(cant goto the internet bad credit )and swim finally has it and dosent want to die from slower and slower breathing in his sleep.

Swim likes his benzos and his kava, but has never tried the two together. In his experience, kava reacts poorly with quite a few things. Definately not the classic "slower and slower breathing" thing either. When mixed with opiates, it can be pleasant in very very small amounts, but can also trigger rather uncomfortable and stressful feelings at higher doses.

Give it a go, if SWIY is careful they probably won't die. Swim doesn't think Kava has a respiratory depression effect, but that's only conjecture. Start slow, with perhaps half your normal dose of clonazepam and a very small amount of kava.

thx for the replay! swim will try .5 mg clonazepam with the kava and if within one hour swim feels alright; swim will bump it up to 1mg. swim's to paranoid to take swims usual 2mg dose with it.

wow, swims so happy, swim bought some grapefruit juice and put 3 times the recommended dose of the liquid kava extract in a big cup with the grapefruit juice. a hour in a half later swim took 5mg of kboys(clonazepam), since grapefruit juice potentates kboys swim decided to put the tincture in it. both chems. are hitting hard. swim also squirted some kava on some black and mild tobacco and is waiting for it to dry. hopefully when smoked out of a bowl the kava will be present.

In the recent past a lab rat was administered a few substances in succession. 6x300mg Gabapentin, with .5mg clonazepam. Repeated administration of tetrahydrocannibinol, oral and inhaled. This produced notable sedation, along with the normal effects of gabapentin. At T+3h, the lab rat was administered 225mg Kavalactones in aqueous solution (equal to a fairly small amount of bark, maybe around 3/4 tablespoon). This produced a very euphoric, nearly overpowering sedation. No negative side effects were noted, but respiratory depression was quite strong. The rat continued to be under effect for quite some time, untill he was administered 40mcg LSD at around T+8h.

SWIM's marmoset uses benzos regularly, but usually not in high doses. Just the other day the marmoset was preparing to take an exam and had taken some clonazepam, at 1mg doses (not sure how many doses, but spaced out at least 4-8 hours). The marmoset consumed 1mg clonazepam whist perparing for an exam to ward off anxiety. Newly acquired kava was consumed about 1 1/2 hours prior to the exam probably about 4 hours after the most recent 1mg clonazepam dose. The marmoset consumed only a single cup of kava tea, as she was unsure at how it might react along with the clonazepam. The marmoset reported no noticeable effects. The kava dose was small probably 25mg kavalactones (just a wild guess.) It is also worth mentioning that the marmoset was sleep deprived and consuming methylphenidate at 10mg as needed to remain alert and focused. Although the dosage of kava was small, probably too small for any positive or negative effects to be notice, the marmoset was in good spirits, devoid of anxiety, and feels that overall the test-taking went well. Basically, the whole point was just to try a small amount of kava in an attempt to detect any incompatabilities with the other aforementioned substances.

Ideally, the marmoset hopes to be able to rely on kava alone for the ability to remain calm and think clearly for exams. The marmoset will try a larger dose next time.
