Concerned for my Ferret!

Well the last two nights my Ferret has been a bad ferret, my ferrets name is Rocko

Thursday night Rocko did CWE on 30 tylenol 1's (300mg acetaminophen, 8mg Codeine, and 15mg Caffeine), he took the mixture an hour after taking 30mg of dxm, Rocko had a good time.

Friday night Rocko did CWE on 35 tylenols, but this time when he was taken the one filter off (Rocko uses the 3 cup method) he drops about the size of half a tablet of the slug into his clear formula. Instead of re-filtering, he thought it would be ok (still clear with some large particles)(not smart).

Rocko took this formula with 100mg of dxm.

An hour and a half later Rocko decided it wasn't really kicking in, so he did a quick CWE with 16 more tylenols and the rest of the dxm (maybe 50-75mgs). Rocko thinks he probably had 275-350mg's of codeine and 100-150 of dxm.

Rocko got extremely hot and sweaty, even a little panicky, Rocko has been very worried about APAP overdose. Rocko had a hard time going to sleep after, and is still feeling a quite a bit of the after effects the next day (head is foggy, and little light headedness)

Rocko started taking NAC since last night, he has taken approx 4000-5000mg of NAC since last night (NAC or N-Acetyl Cysteine is used as an antidote for overdose of APAP).

Should Rocko be worried?

Re: Concerned for my Ferret!

Don't quote SWIM on this, and your ferret should always seek professional medical advice, but to SWIM that seems ok. SWIM doesn't think your ferret has ODd on acetaminophen. If that had been SWIM, SWIM wouldn't have seen the antidote as necessary, just because your ferret dropped a bit of sludge into the mixture? That doesn't seem to be a reason to panic.

SWIM would guess it might be adverse reaction to high dose of codeine if your ferret has low tolerance, or the simple fact that your ferret combined it with DXM, something which SWIM wouldn't do personally!!

SWIM would drink plenty of water, eat well, take vitamins and minerals, get some sleep and get some fresh air; if problems continue when you wake up, your ferret should seek medical advice. Good luck.

Re: Concerned for my Ferret!

Swim thinls that as long as this was just the once that the sludge was drunk then your ferret should be ok. Just be very carefull of stuff containing apap and make sure if your going to do a CWE then do it properly please.
