SWIM the other night went a bit nuts and was wackin some speedballs. one of them obviously missed big time and he has quite a big red lump in the main line, at the elbow joint. this has happend quite a few times over the years but it usually goes down in a day or two. this one, however seems to be staying the same...not getting bigger but not going down, and very tender. i've never had an abscesed vein or infection before but this one is worrying me. any suggestions?

i can't go to the doctor, its a long story but its out of the question (i live in mexico...)

You may have missed the vein and "skin popped" - injecting it into
tissue instead of your vein. Bruising and redness means that an
allergic response is taking place in your immune system, which is a
good thing and getting rid of the bad materials in there. Best of luck
to you.

If it does not get better, GO TO A DOCTOR, or seek some sort of medical
help, from an underground doc or someone who can atleast examine you.

I agree with mattp here. I have also seen a few friends deal with abscesses in there arms. I've never had one myself but this is what to look out for. The size of it may not increase within a few days it could take a week or even two. The fact that it hasn't gone down for a few days doesn't sound good. If it's an abscess, it will slowly increase in size, filling up with an infectious pussy fluid. A major risk when it fills up is that it will find a way to leak in to your main-line... this can give you a cardiac arrest and kill you, or spread the infection to your heart. I don't know how rare this is, I've only heard an ER doctor tell a friend of mine about it. If it increases in size it will eventually work it's way out of your skin and erupt like a volcano from hell, showing a huge nasty pit in your arm. A friend of mine ignored hers until it popped, she couldn't look at it and asked me to clean it out and bandage it for her. I took a very clean pair of tweezers, held it over a flame to make it as sterile as possible. I then removed the dead skin left from where the puss had exited. The fluid was odorous and disgusting. I cleaned it all out. There was a white mass in the center of the abscess. I asked her what she wanted me to do. She told me to get it out. With the very sterile tweezers I carefully removed the white mass. I then used peroxide to clean the wound, then triple antibiotic ointment. Then I dressed the wound. After that I convinced her to let me drive her to the ER to get it checked out by someone other than an idiot with some tweezers. The ER doctor said that the infection was cleaned out, and gave her a script for penecillin(sp?), it turned out ok for her... that time. About a year after that incident the same girl had a much worse abscess from shooting a demerol pill, she went to the ER and it took her a whole month for her arm to recover. The morale is... find a doctor man. There's gotta be some type of discrete doctor in Mex that can help you out. If it's an abscess you need it cleaned out by a pro and you need antibiotics. If you let it go, you could be dealing with serious infection, it could spread to your heart, you could end up with something so bad that they have to amputate. This is serious shit,
