Effects - First time posting and have a ritalin sr question

Hi first I hope and pray I am not breaking rules by asking a question that has already been asked. I sat here for an hour searching and to the best of my knowledge I didn't see my question asked yet. But like I said I am brand new here so if i am mistaken sorry i truely am not meaning to. Ok sorry for the rambling I am just nervouse is all. Well I have a friend that said her friend just started using ritalin Sr she got her first script Friday. She took it as directed and she was amazed at how good it made her feel. She said her friend has done dabbling in coke and also smoking it but had only done it very few times but really liked it. So make my long story short to get to my point the question she has about her friend is this friend needless to say was very surprised to see this little pill she took reminded her so much of her few times with the other and therefore once the pill started wearing off she took more and more and more went on an all night binge. She was up for over 42 hours actually but the more she took to keep herself awake she noticed it gave her nothing more than just that made her wide awake. Then she took no more the rest of that day went to bed early that night slept like 10 hours and waited 3 more hours after she got up before taking her reg dose but when she did she said she felt nothing at all like when she took the first one as directed no wide awake feeling nothing. So I wanted to ask if you do an all night binge will this make it to where it will no longer work at all or is this temporary? If it is temp how long does it take before this goes away and taking it works again? I am so sorry this so long and all over the place but swim is all hyped up but took her alot before she achieved this and she is also nervouse of how much is to much due to now her friend is having a bad headache. If I posted this in the wrong spot or reasked a question sorry . Thank you to those of you who took the time to read my rambling and ty in advanced for any answers u may give

In answer to your question, she is experiencing a tolerance that will likely go away if she does not use it for a few days to week or so if I remember correctly (someone correct me if I'm off, I don't know amphetamines too well). The headache is likely just a hangover. Tell her to be careful with methylphenidate and amphetamines, they can become quite addictive.

A binge will definitely produce a tolerance to where even the normal prescribed dosage is ineffective. There's a reason why there's a recommended dosage, the medication can only be effective if used in a certain pattern.
