Cocaine dreams\motivation

Hi
Just wanting to see if fellow SWIMs experience the same feelings towards cocaine as SWIM. SWIM finds cocaine real motivation to progress as far in life as possible. SWIM has an image in his mind (realistic...hopefully!) of how he'd like to find himself in years to come. SWIM's dream would be to have a nice modern appartment with a nice leather sofa, complete with a low-down glass coffee table infront of SWIM, waiting for him to rack up on, infront of his 40" tv running his high spec PC, surrounded by the finest surround system SWIM can afford. Also with one of those spirit holder\extractor type wall racks that you find in bars, complete with spirits of course! Cant wait!
SWIM could happily quit now for the next 5-10 years in hope of that outcome.
Anyone else care to share?

Re: Cocaine dreams\motivation

SWIM waited until he acheived similar status in life, before even trying cocaine.

Not to brag, but SWIM has a satisfying career, makes decent money, owns a home with modern decor, and has a digital projector in his media room with a 8 x 6 foot screen. 800+ DVD collection, Harmon-Kardon receiver, Polk Audio speakers, etc.

SWIM also has great friends and a strong relationship with SWIM's family. SWIM is a nice guy, and does not fit into the "selfish" or "me, me, me" cocaine user stereotype.

SWIM and his spouse enjoy cocaine (responsibly) as others would drink a beer or a cocktail - to unwind and enjoy time (and especially sex!) with each other. SWIM does not enjoy alcohol at all.

SWIM wonders if he had gotten into cocaine earlier, if he would've acheived the same degree of material "success". SWIM thinks a disciplined user might be able to, but it would be the exception rather than the rule.

SWIM was a heavy user of marijuana, before SWIM's career took off. It provided a reward at the end of the day for SWIM, working in a dull job.

SWIM thinks that drugs can make people complacent, and satisfied with less. As long as SWIY looks forward to the high at the end of the day, SWIY's long-term goals become less important.

In short, SWIM thinks that recreational drug use will probably be a hinderance to making SWIY's dreams come true.

Re: Cocaine dreams\motivation

I'm happy for SWIM.

But it all depends whether someone can progress;

If you have a specific area that you skilled in\willing to progress with. Unfortunately, some people are born without a talent for something. Fortunately for me, I do have a skill which I have plenty of knowledge of and experience with, and it's something I love, which is not something I will ever have for a drug, hopefully.

and

Whether SWIM\Y's control drugs, or lets them control them(their life) will also determine whether they will progress or not I guess.

Just an oppinion.

After reading that, I thought I'd give you some encouragement to quit, while you work on obtaining what you want out of life. The drugs you like now will still be there, and there will probably be newer and better ones in 5-10 years.

But after your last post, it seems like you've already made up your mind that you don't wish to quit. You think you can continue to use, and still acheive what you desire.

Is that correct? If so, why start a thread asking a question you already have a personal answer to?

Re: Cocaine dreams\motivation

Personally, even in a controlled manor and rare recreational usage, you think it could make such an impact to affect a career?

I personally would say no, providing it IS a controlled manor.

If you reread my original post you'll find I wasn't asking whether or not people can use drugs and be succesful, it was whether people use drugs as a way to motivate themselves. If so, for what?

and yes, SWIM tells me he is 99% sure he could quit, but would it be that much more beneficial if he did?

Re: Cocaine dreams\motivation

First of all, please don't forget to use SWIM.

Good luck keeping something like cocaine under control, especially at SWIY's age. SWIM has been doing it for years, and has had his struggle, seeing how easily weekly use can become daily use. SWIM and his spouse limit themselves now, and enjoy it more as a consequence.

SWIM feels personally that cocaine use only motivates two things: sex and more cocaine. If SWIY thinks he can use cocaine to be sharper, more energetic and more motivated at his career, SWIY is in for a big surprise.
