Re: Can my GP prescribe me medicine to help with heroin addiction?
Swim has not ever dealt with heroin and only heroin addiction. however swim has been at the point where he is {kinda physically dpendant on the} meds, well pharm grade opioids, natural opiates such as morphine and opium, and a sh*t load of semi-synthetics; hydromorphone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone, His FAVORITE DRUG OF ALL TIME OXYCODONE!!! If he couldn't get oxy his next 'preferred' drug would be methadone then heroin and the list goes on from here... After H swim would go for some hydromorphone and if not that then hydrocodone. Swim would take ANY opiate when dopesick!!! That would not happen if swim WANTED to be clean! like swiy who wants to quit. needs to be more specific about the dosages and frequency?
Now according to swiyour daily dose... How many times a day, how much is swiy taking to get high and how much to feel well. Also what kinda dope swiy get??? Assuming brown powder as thats what swim believes he read in swiyour post.
Swim is on suboxone maintenance for keeping the withdrawals and cravings under control. swim is ACTUALLY FEELING GREAT!!! He is only been on since Friday
but he rather just feels normal now. Swims not sure what country swiy's in so cant say if the med is an option where you're at. Suboxone just like methadone has a HUGE half-life so it allows for once or twice a day dosing.
Swim always said I'll give it a shot at home detox. He always told himself it's only 3 days really! If swiy wants to take a break swim advises getting fully clean cause he had his chances at that but always came back for more! Sad but true...
And here swim sits now in his comp. chair typing helping others through their addictions to repay to ALL you swimmers out there who are 100% helpful in saving swim from some ROUGH, ROUGH times of being dependant on illicit drugs. Swim could be dead now or in a bad car accident, or jail!
As far as the doc bein able to help swiy out,,, yes he should be able to write you out some scripts. Swim trial and errored tooo many times so figured out what works and what doesn't. (for swim at least)
Heres a quick little imaginary tapering schedule to show what should happen over this time...
Start by taking the last dose. Swiy should plan to never use or wait a loonng time before using again! That's the hardest part is that part of swiyourbrain that has been damged temporarily. Swiy heard correctly that it only takes 3 days!!! These 3 days will be thru the worst about RIGHT int the middle of tha 72hr. detox. W/D consists of hot/cold flashes, extremely lethargic, depressed, achy, and irritable mood.
The dr. could have swiy slowly taper down on oxycodone or hydrocodone maybe even hydromorphone. After a week, 2 weeks TOPS swiy should stop altogether. At this point swiy should be able to completely stop using with w/d's not NEAR as bad! The doc would usually give clonidine to help with the hot/cold chills and lotsa other opiate physical w/d symptoms are , some strong non-steroidal anti inflammatory he might give for the aches and sores. He also might throw in soime diazepam or another benzo but definately not ALOT!
Swim has done it about 15-20 times himself he can tell swiy what he did to make it more bearable!!! Swim always began the journey by getting some benzodiazepine to help swim from the BAD cravings. Swiy should also take swiyour last dose around midnight so that w/d will start about 16hrs. later and get the worst of it done (between 16 and 36Hrs.) by dosing with the clonidine for physical symptoms, benzos for relaxing and getting some rest. also swiy will want some vitamins to get thr body working naturally again. Immodium/ loperamide tablets work very well with the stomach cramping as this is an opiate in itself it just does not cross the BBB which is where the 'high' is formed at. Basically swiy needs nutrition, sedatives, and the loperamide is a def must for withdrawal.
Swim knows swiy can do it because swim has gone through at LEAST a dozen withdrawals from opiates. that's why swim decided on suboxone. He always relapses!
Oh and swim forgot to mention only to use the benzos as a last resort and nopt to use more than 4-5 days as this could cause another addiction. Swim would just ask the dr. what he would give swiy to get through the withdrawal symptoms. Just remember is only three days of your life being like a living hell or living the restof swiyour life bein a livin hell cause of addiciton.
One last thing...Are swiyou aware of what DXM is? It's in the OTC cough meds, read up on it as it is a dissociative hallucinogenic. however swim made it through 120mgs of oxycodone a day for months to nothing with pretty much 20mgs diazepam the 1st night, 2mg of alprazolam and 400mgs of DXM. This is ALOT to a newbie to the dissociative world and might not wanna enter it if swiy knows nothing about it!!! Just for swim he always dosed a light-medium dose and it eliminated all the w/d symtoms... Swim believes it is because of the effect on nmda receptor sites which he thinks is the active receptor site for opiates as well. PM if swiy has any questions!!!
