Bad Rolls

Not too long ago my giraffe ate some bad rolls. They made him puke his guts out shortly after taking them so he went home. He was sitting in his chair watching some TV about an hour after puking and got really hot all of the sudden. He had goosebumps and was pouring sweat profusely from every inch of his body. He seriously thought he was gonna die, he spent the next 4 hours taking a cold shower and popping electrolyte tablets while drinking large amounts of water. Even in cold water he was still burning up and tried to call an ambulance, but couldn't step out of the shower to find his phone without burning up. He also was so hot it felt like someone was rubbing sandpaper on his skin.

Anyone have any idea what drug might have been in them?

To guess from the description that your Giraffe gave, I can only guess. That's the bottom line. However - I can profer a possibility: PMA.

Something that has been put in pill form and passed off as 'Ecstasy' is para-Methoxy-Amphetamine(PMA). This is a psychedelic drug that is very easy to make. And it is highly toxic. Just a little bit over the dosage for psychedelic effects can - and have, killed people. It does this by sending the temperature regulator in the brain out to lunch. Result: Fever of 108F+.

It was good the Giraffe took a cool shower( I'm guessing it wasn't set to freezing). An ice-cold bath could bring on shock. I'm glad the Giraffe is alright and the crisis is over. But this is not to say this is what the Giraffe had taken. It's all speculation.

But, just in case, what part of the world does the Giraffe live in? And what did the pills look like? If this reaction is something one runs into again - don't hesitate to call an ambulance.

After checking Erowid and Wiki it does indeed sound like PMA. He lives in NW Indiana near Chicago. The pills were a red/pink color and had a diamond (like on playing cards) stamped on them.

Everyone that ate them said they had a bad reaction to them, but his was by far the worst. Maybe he should invest in a PMA test kit, he has eaten all kinds of rolls and after that experience he won't pop his unless he has confimation from a friend that they had eaten them and they are clean.

Or not attending the friend's funeral? It might be a good idea if SWIM were to talk to his friends, and ask them to talk to their friends, suggesting that they all get a testing kit. Testing kits are pretty cheap - lives are not.
