Re: SWIM has several prescriptions - What drugs should he not take?
Playing with anti-depressants for SWIM's recreational amusements should be avoided. Especially one's that have SSRI properties. These can throw one's brain chemistry into serious disrepair. This goes double for anti-psychotics. They are NOT fun.
Methylphenidate (commonly know as Ritalin in the USA) is a CNS stimulant with properties very similar to amphetamines. With the same dangers. Look in the forums for further information. Omeprazole is Prilosec. It works to block secretion of stomach acid. Good if one needs it, but only one familiar with SWIM's medical data can determine if it might be contraindicated due to some underlying condition. Stick to Mylanta. It's minty-fresh! |

Re: SWIM has several prescriptions - What drugs should he not take?
I believe the OP was asking which recreational drugs his friend should avoid while taking the above prescribed medications.
Though I cannot attest to pharmaceutical interactions between these medications and recreational drugs (except that SSRIs should not be mixed with MAOIs or MDMA) I would ask your friend to seriously consider why they want to enter the realm of altered states experiences. Much of the outcome of drug experiences involves the predisposition of the user (a major component of 'set & setting'), and a user who has been diagnosed with disorders requiring Olanzapine, Venlafaxine, and methylphenidate might want to consider avoiding certain altered states, specifically those of the psychedelic realm. Of course for some, a magnifying glass or a dissociative state can have positive effects on their disorders, but by in large, those predisposed to mental illness will find themselves in a less than enjoyable position under the influence of psychedelics. Ah! Silly me. Minor cultural misunderstanding in terms. That list would be far more extensive. One would need to know the medical conditions being treated to provide that.
