Does old addiction re-surface due to a new addiction?

SWIM is concerned that she is addicted to Adderall now. She used to hate taking it and only took it on days when she couldn't get out of bed. Now when she doesn't take it in order to catch up on sleep she wants it real bad after waking up. But it's too late in the day to take it so now she is resorting to her old drug of choice Darvocet/Vicodin on the days she doesn't take Adderall.

Now it's even worse SWIM is trying to get Oxy but can't afford it. SWIM used to be addicted to Demerol. SWIM believes that Adderall is causing this old addiction to re-surface.

SWIY ever had this problem?

Swim has never had that problem but could see were it could easily happen. Also swim has never felt a strong pull towards adderall like an opiate. Demerol is the worst for swim since his tolerence increases sooo fast. Being able to recognize the want to use should help you resist, well atleast it would for swim since the hard part is dealing with the physical dependence of opiates not the mental want to use. Darvocet is terrible for swim cause of all the paracetamol

Adderall can be addicting. Swim found that out the hard way when detoxing off everything. She used a little adderall daily to get her thru the getting off speed blahs. Well after that was over, she had a nasty adderall habit as bad as the speed. It is very easy to occur. Just stay off addictive drugs period.

SWIY might just have an addictive personality. Basically SWIY can get hooked easy and on most anything. Might have a lack of dopamine in their brain and SWIY is looking for anything to replace it. SWIM used to be severely addicted to speed. When he couldn't cop speed he would sometimes settle for morphine or oxycodone.
