SSRI and opiates

SWIM would like to know the possible complications of taking vicodin while on an SSRI like Zoloft. Would this reduce the euphoria associated with an opiate? Will this be potentially lethal or very harmful? Any experience or information would be helpful.

Re: SSRI and opiates

I'm sure its not lethal or harmful as they have no known interactions as far as reducing the euphoria i have no experience taking them both at the same time so i cant answer that.

Re: SSRI and opiates

SWIM is currently coming off of Zoloft (2nd day without). SWIM is having a headache but is skeptical about taking any vicodin due to the little unsupported information and experiences with the interaction.

Re: SSRI and opiates

I searched it and you should be fine plus i had a friend who was on zoloft and he would take vicodin here and there with no bad effects. If i were you i wouldnt worry about it and just take the vicodin especially since vicodin help me when i have a headache, but thats a decision only you should make and its better to be safe then sorry. With that said i doubt theres any bad interactions between the two.

Re: SSRI and opiates

swim has a relative whom is prescribed fluoxetine HCl and hydrocodone. there are no (typical or serious) physical interactions between the drugs. any differences swiy feels in the hydrocodone experience will purely be a psychological change indirectly caused by the SSRI (or, of course, placebo if swiy thinks about it too much, power of suggestion can influence it as well)
