Mild autism and psychadelic experiences
So SWIM knows someone, namely himself, who has aspergers syndrome. For those of who who dont know, it is a form of mild autism.. one characteristic that constantly arises is the fact that the smallest things are often concentrated upon, and seen as significant.. the 'bigger picture' per say is either not perceived or not seen as relevant unless the 'smaller picture' is first known. So SWIM was wandering, as he has nothing to compare his experiences to as he has had it all his life, what extent do people think aspergers/mild autism affects a trip?... as, when tripping, everything is usually seen as significant, like a blade of grass or a single star in the sky, or a leaf.. its all significant. If a person was to not have any form of autism, and then have it and then trip, do SWIY thinks that it would have an effect?... SWIM is wandering because his trips are often extremly diffirent from the groups that he trips with, as in, he doesnt have any of the shared hallucinations or experiences... Thoughts?

Re: Mild autism and psychadelic experiences
Swim has the same thing, maybe not as intense as swiy, but yeah, pretty damn much, as he gets lost with the slightes things he don´t understand and which can be only understood within the big picture.( eh used to selfdiagnose with ADS and a form of authism)
Same with tripping, no big halllucinating until he willingly expands his mind and just lets go of all his thoughts and worries and then some very symmetrical and still hallucination evolves. taking small amounts of peas really helps with being more loose and being able to concentrate on the big picture and getting to the point/consense of it or working his way through. |

Re: Mild autism and psychadelic experiences
Swim was diagnosed BP, but has often thought he may actually have asperger's. Even if he doesn't, he does have several social problems, such as a lack of empathy, in some ways. In most cases he can logically calculate peoples emotions and behaviors more out of years of people watching than any real empathy. Still, while he can calculate fear, he doesn't understand it, nor does he feel it. Swim has had a double sided experiences. While swim has not tripped with others such as to be able to encounter any 'shared' hallucinations, he is sure he would not share them. Or that his experience would likely dominate the others and they might share his. Swim has found himself better able to have compassion for others than he did before each trip. Yet even so, he feels so much father away from them. Swim would not be so egotistical to say 'above' but would say that his thoughts and ideas move beyond the realm of comprehension for most, often even himself as he spend a lot his sober time trying to decipher his 'hallucinations'. Swim is a Dex & Sally type. He's never used mushrooms or acid.
Descriptions like this convince swim he does not have autism. While swim can work with details and be detail oriented, he is not consumed by them. For swim the 'big picture' and 'little picture' are just stories that are metaphors for the 'other picture'. Don't ask what that is. Swim is still trying to figure it out. |
