Going to Thailand

I just found out tonight that I will be traveling to Thailand for 2 weeks in April. If memory serves me correctly, is this not an excellent opportunity to get some real tride and true Opium? Has anyone ever been to Thailand? What is the drug scene like there and whats the best way to score? Normally these would be ovious questions but I dont know ANYTHING about Thailand yet. This forum seemed like a good place to ask this particular question. Any info would be appreciated.

If you are going on a guided tour, you can request to try opium while in a small village. If you are in the city though, just know that drug laws are extreme.

You can get stuff anywhere, a few years ago buying stuff in Bangkok
wasn't that risky I'd just ask the tuk-tuk and either buy off them or
someone they knew. I was buying yabba from them.

I bought some opium from around Pai was offered heroin as well, but since the 2003 drug crackdown things area lot riskier.

Expats i knew where heading over to Laos, where it's a lot safer.



But don't walk around with stuff on you in Bangkok or any of the main
places in the south, even weed. The going rate or getting caught with
an eigth was 50000 baht although this varies according to your
nationality, japanese first then americans etc.

If you want opium go to myanmar, Thailand is scary, you could get the death penalty there for an 8 ball of heroin.

myanmar is scarier, seeing children being forced to work making roads
isn't. though if you go into the shan state (northern myanmar along the
chinese border) which isnt goverment controlled might be better i didnt
fancy getting into trouble there so kept my head and just drank with
the locals.

id recommend Laos over myanmar i found the atomosphere much more
relaxed even though the people are great and very friendly in myanmar i
cant imagine the police/army there offering foriegners a drink at 9am
more likely harsh stares and the wave of rifle.

Be very careful I have heard that people will sell you what ever you want and make some money but will then go to the local police and rat on you. They get alot of money and credit for catching Westerners with drugs. Can anyone else confirm or deny this.

accountphil is correct swim has known this happen in thailand and laos
its worse it the bigger towns/cities ask other travellers although in
the more remote places hill towns/villages, less developed islands.
Basically fewer police around less chance it happening sometimes if you
stay somewhere where the owner has police connections (usually ex) they
warn you when the police are coming swim saw this first hand in
cambodia.
