Genetic Codeine Tolerance

SWIM did codeine with his friend yesterday and his friend felt no effects at all after taking 140-150mg of codeine and has never felt any effects ever - even when he took it to relieve pain with Tylenol 3s. It didn't relieve his pain at all. He has told me that his mom felt no pleasurable effects when she was administered morphine during an operation, she simply fell to sleep. He claims it is his genetics that disallow him from feeling the beautiful effects of opiates. Is this true?? or does he just have high tolerance genetically and should do a much higher dose (300-400mg) next time he does codeine to feel it?

Re: Genetic Codeine Tolerance

Swim has read that a very small number of people lack a particular liver enzyme (CYP2D6) that metabolises codeine in a way that makes releives pain or feel high, this is a genetic trait. If swiys mother also had no effects from codeine it's likely swiy has it to unfortunately.

This would mean that no matter how much swiy ate it would do nothing.
