Best Benzo for kicking

Hi all, Swim would like to know what the best Benzo is for kicking opiates? He would like to thank you all in advance .

clonazepam is pretty damn good. swim is prescribed to it for anxiety but uses it to kick heroin sometimes. it is a good one because of it's long life, potency, muscle relaxing properties, and it's not too mild, but not too intense like the major hypnotic benzodiazepines. it allows one to just be much more comfortable and doesn't just knock them out. also chlordiazepoxide seems to be good. swim has been to detox numerous times and finds that it does a good job. it too has a long life. the main thing is when detoxing just make sure swiy gets enough of whatever benzo in the body so that swiy is somewhat comfortable. definately more comfortable than swiy was. they just kind of take the edge off. hope that helps. welcome.

Agree.. clonazepam works well as it has a long half-life and seems to make swim comfortable without just knocking her into a stupor or whatnot.. Depending what makes one comfortable, and one's prior use/tolerance to to Rx or recreational use- 0.5-3mg at a time? Really varies.. start low and work up till you are comfortable.. IMO better to be comfy to some extent on benzos than to relapse on the needle if one is trying to kick.. Best of luck!!

Also, swim's been given low doses lorazepam in detox, and thinks that while anything helps, she prefers the longer acting benzos.. or a possibility would be a steady low dose of something longer acting, and then a boost of lorazepam/alprazolam/etc. as needed.. but one has to be careful to use them either as needed only, or to have a set cut-off point or taper schedule so as to not become dependent on these.. Swim realizes benzos are fairly low risk, but at the same time, when an addict tries to quit their drug of choice, it can be oohh so easy to find a replacement and land right back where one started. swim hates lorazepam. he thinks it's the shittiest benzodiazepine there is. he is on it right now and has been for the last like 3 days. it's half as potent as clonazepam. swim usually takes 1.5 to sometimes 2.0mg of clonazepam per dose. and swim was only able to take 4 - .5mg tabs of lorazepam so that's equivelant to 1mg of clonazepam although swim feels it a little more than that because it's short acting not long acting. it more feels like swim took closer to 1.5 mg but thats only because it's short acting so packs a little more punch but won't last near as long. anyways swim read on wikipedia that clonazepam is used in certain countries as the main detox drug. swim lives in Untied States and mostly they give librium. librium worked really well. that was the first benzodiazepine in history and it's still damn good for detoxing, at least better then some other ones. swim would say go with clonazepam, chlordiazepoxide (Librium), maybe diazepam, or some other long acting benzodiazepine. they really seem to work best for withdrawal. and as said above the ones that are good skeletal muscle relaxers really help alot. clonazepam seems to be in the middle as far as strenght. alprazolam seems to hit too hard and not last long and might put one to sleep. on the other hand, diazepam seems to be a little weaker then clonazepam. swim has heard a number of people on this forum talk of clonazepam as a medium for benzos. question... what long acting benzos does anyone consider stronger/more sedating than clonazepam? swim was pretty suprized to find himself pretty messed up on the librium. way more smashed than he has been on clonazepam. now that swim thinks about it he may want to aquire chlordiazepoxide instead of clonazepam for withdrawals. but maybe the dose they gave him wasn't equal to what he takes of clonazepam. he's not sure. maybe clonazepam would mess one up more than librium if doses were about equivelant. any insight?

I was addicted to benzos for 2 years when I was 17 and took them selfishly. I knew I guy that worked in this place that housed drugs for all city pharmacys, and would steal 1000 pill bottles of every benzos that there is and would sell it to me for 3 to 4 grams of pot per bottle. So I would say that serax is good for withdrawls halcion for sleep. diazepam is good for what ails ya!
