feeling suboxne

swim used to have a pretty bad heroin (diacetylmorphine) habit. he used heroin for a couple years but didn't get a real bad physical addiction till the last year of use. at one point it was pretty bad. swim had to do 3 grams (tar) a day. that was 3 times a day 1 gram each shot. but swim eventually started to not have much money and was forced to lower himself back to like a half gram to a gram a day which was quite a good thing in the long run. but swim had a lot of sick days during that time. anyways swim finally got on suboxone just a little over one year ago (got on it day after christmas 2007). his habit was lowered enough to when he got on it he was taking 16mg a day in the morning and for the first couple months he got kinda high off the stuff. he could feel it coming up, peaking, coming down and everything. but for the last like 8 - 10 months swim has felt NOTHING from it. there is no come up, peak, come down or whatever. and swim was even eventually moved to 32mg a day (16mg 2x day). when swim got some kind of high off it, he really didn't want to use. it really helped him. it definately was no heroin high but it was there. swim really wants to go back to where he feels at least something from it. it not only makes him not want to use hard drugs, but it really helps his anxiety which swim now takes clonazepam as needed for. it would be nice to not have to take clonazepam as swim has almost gotten physically addicted to them and thats somewhere swim really doens't want to go. so swim is wondering if anyone has any advice on how to get high on them again or at least feel it somewhat. swim has lowered his dose from 32mg a day to 12mg a day. swim has tried to get off it before but the withdrawals are sooo damn long that it's really hard. swim got to like day 16 but started to use heroin again and used it really heavy for like 4 or 5 days and swim knows he would have felt his suboxone much more then he does now if he wouldn't have used heroin before getting back on it. do people think swim should just stay off it for a couple weeks and that will do it, or should swim completely get off it until there are no withdrawals anymore and then maybe he will feel it when he takes it again? btw swim is trying to get to that point so he can use it as needed for cravings instead of taking it everyday and being physically dependent on it. swim would rather suffer heroin withdrawals any day because they only last like a week. swim is thinking of drinking low doses of poppy tea just enough to get rid of his withdrawal and doing that for like a month, so he is physically addicted to that, and then just go to a normal detox since his WD will only be like a week. does this sound okay? there is so many advantages over taking suboxone once in a while and getting high off it than taking it every day and feeling nothing off of it. any opinions or input? would be greatly appreciated.

Re: feeling suboxne

I've read much on the interwebs but don't have any direct experience with either heroin or suboxone. However, it sounds like SWIY has a good idea there. Switch to something that will provide a shorter withdrawal, go through it, and use the subs after SWIY finishes withdrawal. From what I've read, the ability to feel suboxone is negatively impacted by tolerance, so just going back to subs every single day is going to get you right back to where you are now. Be careful.
