How fast do opiates lose analgesic effectiveness
How fast do opiates lose their analgesic effectiveness?
What im asking is will the pills prescribed continue to control the pain long after you stop getting high, or will the analgesic effectiveness decrease along with the high. Basically, i dont want to lose the analgesic effects of the medicine by building a tolerance but would still like to get high. |

Re: How fast do opiates lose analgesic effectiveness
First off you don't do anything illegal, Someone Who Isn't You does.
The analgesia decreases with tolerance... somewhat. Swim finds with long runs with the flower of the gods or its derivatives the effects of the drugs just decrease with tolerance, pain relief, and all, however a sort of general stiff numbness builds up that helps with pain but isn't particularly terrific. Basically, if swiys asking what will happen after using for a while, the answer is that they'll lose their fun. If SWIY is new to opiates, even if it is for pain, Swim wouldn't recommend the approach in which one plans to use untill he thinks its time to stop because swiy probably won't ever want to stop, and he won't know till its too late whether or not he has the will power to overcome the terrible psychological game opiate addiction plays. All things in moderation right? |

Re: How fast do opiates lose analgesic effectiveness
For swim opiates lose their euphoria much faster than they lose their analgesic properties. This may be different for everyone though. For swim the euphoria and the analgesic properties sort of go hand in hand because one of the pleasures of opiates for swim is that they take away the pain of a longterm illness swim contracted many years back,he can feel normal, the way he felt before the illness that is the high for swim.

Re: How fast do opiates lose analgesic effectiveness
ok, well yes swim wants to know because he is having some surgery that will involve the doctors injecting him with fentanyl, however they wont know that he is pretty tolerant to opiods, and will give him an opiate naive dose, and perhaps wont give him enough to help.
Swim doesnt care about getting high for this he jus doesnt want to lay on the surgery table in agonzing pain. He alrdy plans on taking a break for at least 2-3 weeks prior to the surgery to help. Any input on this. |

Re: How fast do opiates lose analgesic effectiveness
fentanyl is really good for painkilling, and even if swiy is tollerant, it should help. It won't get swiy high, but it should kill some pain, at least. And yes, I'd say the analgesic properties last quite a bit longer than the high

Re: How fast do opiates lose analgesic effectiveness
Fentanyl is one of the more powerful analgesics swim has came across,he hasn't used it as frequently as he has some of the other opioids but he would imagine its analgesic properties should work for a good while.
