For all you long-time users

I am beginning a daily adderall regiment for my ADHD (perscribed). I suppose that I was functioning without it and making OK grades, but I enjoy the enhanced mental performance and ability to finally focus on what I am doing. I am reading experience reports everywhere though and hearing very bad things about daily use of adderall (with sparse very, very positive reports), but most of these reports seem to be centered around people who keep upping the dose more and more until they finally burn out and go into a severe depression, with their skin cracking and lack of eating.

For me, when I have taken my meds (at least for now, 20mg XR), I do not get that lack of hunger, and my grades have gone up drammatically.

I just need to know what I need to do to prevent this from making me go out of control. I don't want to crash like I've seen others do. I dont want to use it recreationally, it just helps me SO much. Does anyone have any good advice, especially from experience?

Re: For all you long-time users

swim isn't adhd but from what she has seen with people close to her, a good tactic to keep swiy's adderall use under control is to only take it on school days and then give it a rest on saturday and sunday. the problems seem to begin when someone takes adderall several days in a row, notices that the dose that they are taking doesnt have as good of an effect as it used to and then decides to up the dose a little bit without discussing it with their doctor first. and honestly, if swiy does truely have adhd, just don't use it recreationally and take the dosages responsibly. still there probably will be some side effects eventually but the key is to not let it change the way swiy takes the addys (without discussing it with a doctor first)

Re: For all you long-time users

Stick to taking as prescribed, and as suggested, not taking any when not really needed. Tolerance to any type of speed can grow rapidly, so little breaks are good. As long as you are taking good care of yourself, ie...eating well, drinking plenty of water, sleeping well every night, and paying close attention to your use of adderall. It shouldnt be a problem and will continue to make your life feel more on track. Be honest with yourself and your physician and it should all be good.
