Tramadol ft Valerian

Swims pet monkey started to use Valerian for his anxiety, and he is recreational user of tramadol. So, he was wondering could there be any nasty side effect from the mix.?.

I don't know of any stidies done on SSRI's (like tramadol) and valerian. But I'd take it real slow until more folks chime in. Be careful - please.

My monkey frequently takes valerian, often mixed with other herbs, as a sleep aid and it seems fairly benign. It has not mixed badly with anything yet, but as for tramadol, he is not sure...

It has been recommended for epilepsy but that is not supported by research (although its analogue valproic acid is used as an anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing drug).

So, does that mean that it is safe to combine with tramadol??

my dog takes efexor 225 mg daily n to sleep valerian. tells me no side fx at all.
or swiy takes v in megadose ?

No, Im not concerned that Swim friends pet will OD, he takes them in recommended doeses. But that monkey likes to pop now and then some tramadol for fun. And tramadol is known for causing a seizure when combined with SSRIs. So basicly Im worried about (I love that monkey pretty much) does Valerian acts on seratonin.

hm, swiy got swim wondering bout hi-dosing valerian. he probably never done a [real] hidose cause a. the stuff is so available/cheap n b. its always been helpful [at least a little] in treating various types of hangovers, so hesitating to make this 'lil helper' also into a negative force, as it might cause some nasty hangover itself. swiy's dosage
could be revealed ?

ah yes that frog misunderstood totally unscientific thought of lemur: val will prevent seizure, when val is done working, itll cause [co-cause] seizure. my elephant
would prevent val-no-work by taking more of val. an ostrich i dont knows says its the same w valium: dont let a little valium hangover/shortage spoil fun and also create seizure -> let v-level in blood not drop until long after tramadol. his point: ssri n val are very different stuffz.
