rectal loperamide??

swim used to be one of those 'eew putting drugs up ur ass???' but has found it to be by far one of the best administration routes for opiates like hydrocodone, oxycodone etc. in a few threads on df a moderate abuse potential for the OTC drug loperamide has been uncovered, and verifyed by not only swim but a few other reputable swimmers. It is not psychoactive orally but when extracted then snorted or smoked on cannabis it has the same dosage as oral hydrocodone, to swim at least. swim has found snorting very painful but smoking on mj is the way to go, but swim hasnt found anything on rectal loperamide use, and if used in this way it might eliminate the need for an extraction. swim dosent have a rig right now so he cant do it but would like any input on the idea.

also swim would like to keep the immature comments about poop or w/e off this thread, unless its genuinely funny lol

Rectal adminitration of loperamide would be useful if you had very severe diarrhea, but a very bad idea if one has intentions of equating its dosage to that of hydrocodone and attempting recreational usage. It's purpose is to constipate or relieve diarrhea a person has. The ideas mentioned above have intestimal compaction written all over them.

loperamide is not psychoactive orally, insufflated, injected, or rectally as it does not cross the BBB in any significant amount and therefore has no analgesic properties. Any loperamide molecules that do cross the BBB are quickly removed by P-glycoprotein (Pgp) or more commonly known as MDR1 (multi-drug resistance protien).

Taken alone, loperamide cannot cross the BBB, so it is not only unsafe, but pointless to extract it and attempt using it in a recreational fashion. The only way for this to be accomplished is to modify the loperamide molecule so that it can, which has been done but is quite complicated and goes far beyond merely extracting it from the tablets. loperamide is used as anti-diarrhreal medicine hence why it is a prime candidate for OTC use for this purpose. If you read through any credible posts or threads on DF that claim recreational usefulness of loperamide then they would mention creating nanoparticles containing loperamide molecules coated with polysorbate 80 which then enable an analgesic effect to be accomplished.

Opiates in general are great for this purpose, but most are far too addictive in comparison to be considered useful. This is why loperamide is used as is not able to cross the BBB, therefore has no abuse-potential as it does not affect the central nervous system like other opiates however it does activate mu opiod receptors in the myenteric intestinal tract which account for it's antidiarrheal effect.

Suggesting to anyone that extracted loperamide is equivalent in potency and recreational/psychoactive effects is not only dangerous, but contributing to misinformation which is cause for a great deal of preventable problems caused by drug use. Trying to use loperamide at the equivalent doses as hydrocodone is likely to cause complications that would be dangerous. Addicts who have went to the store looking for something to relieve the constipation caused by habitual opiate use, have ended up in the ER after getting loperamide mixxed up with a laxitive due to intestimal compaction.

Re: rectal loperamide??

^Very good info.

The only thing SWIY is likely to experience from mass doses of loperamide is likely a constipation that would put normal opiate constipation to shame.

As said, loperamide does not cross the BBB, and it has a specific affinity for myenteric mu receptors in the gut.
