Dexedrine and SSRI

SWIM is prescribed 40mgs./day of Dexedrine and also 60mgs. of a drug called Cymbalta(duloxetine hydrocloride). This is an anti depressent. SWIM had thought that the Dexies did not create any euphoria because his/her receptors in the brain could have been damaged due to 2 decades of meds for a serious back injury and 3 surgeries.
Now I read that the combo listed could be dangerous, even deadly. I do not abuse either of these as the Dexies do not work even with higher doses. Should I stop the Cymbalta for a while and see if the Dexises work better or even for safety purposes though the info I read said the doses had to be quite high and Seretoin Slash(?) was rare? Help please and THX!

Indeed syrotonin syndrome can be deadly, though if you have been taking the combination for several weeks the effects won't change, if you still haven't experienced (serious) side-effects than there isn't much to worry about. Amphetamine is a serotonin agonist, and in combination with a SSRI it can cause serotonin syndrome, but usually only when non-medical doses of amphetamine are taken. Though you should still discuss this with your pharmacist ASAP, for safety's sake.

Thanks. In the data sheet on the Cymbalta it said it prevented seretonin reuptake. What does that mean, prevents seretonin reuptake? SWIM was hoping the Cymbalta would help the amphetamine be put to use better. SWIM have been using these for several months. SWIM will reduce the Cymbalta for now. THX!
