Lightbulb Tryp-2C's & Tryp-3C's : 5-Methoxy,7-Substituted-typtamines

It has been discussed on another forum that if you look at bromo-dragonfly simulating 5-HT (serotonin) as well as 2C's simulating 5-HT then the potential equivalent to 2C's in the tryptamine world could well be 5-methoxy,7-subst-tryptamine. This comparison between B-dragonfly and 5-ht has been discussed before and in Nichols paper but...

The 7-subst in 5-methoxy,7-subst-tryptamines could be the equivalent of the 4-subst in 2C's. [see images below]

This is interesting as Shulgin did not actually test ANY 7-subst tryptamines in TIHKAL and definately no 6,7-Methylenedioxy-tryptamines (which could be seen as the MDMA of the typtamine pattern)

Another interesting piece of information

6-HO-Dopamine : 2,4,5-Trihydroxyphenylethylamine is a dopamine neurotoxin [not to be messed with!!] but shares the same substitution pattern as 2C compounds.

5,7-dihydroxy-tryptamine: Is a known serotonin neurotoxin [not to be messed with!!] but fits the correlation of 5-methoxy,7-subst-tryptamine (possibly as 6-ho-dopamine and 2C did)

No one seems to have done much research on 7-substituted tryptamines let alone 5-methoxy,7-subst-tryptamines. Could well be a very interesting avenue to explore.

Disclaimer: Clearly these are completely unknown compounds so in the wise words of Shulgin
Quote:
the new activities that might be found in the future may be of quite a different nature, and could potentially be harmful. All things new are, by definition, unknown.
Still would be a very interesting question to ask either Shulgin or Nichols on exploring either Tryp-2C's (5-methoxy,7-subst-tryptamines), Tryp-3C's (5-methoxy,7-subst-alphamethyltryptamines) or plain 7-substituted tryptamines.

Re: Tryp-2C's & Tryp-3C's : 5-Methoxy,7-Substituted-typtamines

i always wondered when it would be that we would all take this way too far and kill everyone with some wild neurotoxic designer drug. this chemistry is so far flung. let me restate a couple keypoints of this to put it in perspective. the base building block for this line of theoretical chemistry rhettoric is 5,7-dihydroxy-tryptamine which will for all intents and purposes actually melt your brain. i like my brain and dont want it melted. through my many years of empirical research on many subjects to do with several seritonergics and otherwise i have learned much about this field. now that having been said it doesnt really seem like taking a deadly neurotoxin and tweaking it a little bit to try to get something that will make you get high isnt exactly the way to be awarded the nobel prize. actually it seems pretty fucking stupid from what i can ascertain. maybe im just tragically wrong and these compounds will be spectacularly successful. im not so sure. someone please prove my conjecture wrong.
