Nurofen + CWE Problems

I know, this is probably a ridiculous question but I have no fear of ridicule!

SWIM recently told me that a CWE of Nurofen + left a cloudy solution. SWIM is a long standing extractor of numerous substances but was puzzled by this result. SWIM is speculating that there may be corn starch or some other substance present to deter intreped home bakers and other assorted extractor types.

SWIM is a known daredevil and hence drank the cloudy substance anyway which was probably foolish as he had used 24 of the little buggers in the mix. SWIM reported that there was no recognisable ibuprofen effects. His stomach was fine, his high was mellow and his next day typical.

Does anybody wish to speculate on what the cloudiness may be?

Re: Nurofen + CWE Problems

The cloudiness is most likley cornstarch or some other binder. Nurofen plus tablets contain only 212mg of active ingredient but are just as big as a 500mg APAP tablet, suggesting that there is a shitload of binder in each tablet. Swim finds that this binder makes N+ a bitch to use in CWE as it absorbs a lot of water.

The bottom line is though, if there are no obvious solids in your final solution Swiy should be OK.

Re: Nurofen + CWE Problems

Thanks for that. SWIM realised that it was probably OK as the awful Ibuprofen heaviness and stomach upset was not present.

Re: Nurofen + CWE Problems

N+ is usually a pain to CWE as it quickly blocks the filter and then takes ages to filter properly. The up side though is if you are unforunate enough to not 100% get rid of the ibuprofen, in an acute dose, its far less dangerous than paracetamol/acetaminophen.

That said one shouldn't be careless about filtration as large doses of ibuprofen are associated with kidney as well as stomach problems, more so if one is frequently dosing.

Its a shame really as there is a good arguement to say the inherent risk of selling OTC codeine is less problematic than people doing CWE extraction improperly.

SWIM would advise not to rush the cooling process.

Re: Nurofen + CWE Problems

swim finds that filtering N+ through a cotton filter (like 100% cotton material) then filtering the cloudy solution through two coffee filters works well. and with the stuff that ends up in the cotton filter, swiy can add water to the mix, cool in the freezer and filter again.
