Concerns About Rolling Again
Hi all,
As a long-time lurker at Drugs Forum, SWIM thought it was about time SWIM posted and it just so happens there's a good reason to do so...
SWIM was a regular user of "Ecstasy" back in the mid to late '90's, always in pill form. Other drugs were usually sampled with amphetamines being the primary choice - although SWIM rarely, if ever, mixed drugs - alcohol on occassion. After a period, SWIM decided to stop E given the negative comedown effects and continued with amphetamines. Before long though, SWIM experienced the all too familiar problems associated with excessive and sustained amphetamine use - panic/anxiety attacks and psychological issues regarding SWIM's general well-being. This continued at various levels for many years although it became more rational and SWIM was able to continue with a normal life.
So now SWIM is at a point in life where all is well - very regular exercise has resulted in good physical condition, SWIM doensn't drink alcohol to excess, doesn't smoke and has not taken illicit drugs in over 5 years.
However, there is a forthcoming event at which SWIM would like to experience the roll again. He's been weighing it up and examining the pro's an cons, conducted a significant amount of research and generally put himself back in the picture. SWIM was generally an educated recreational user anyway rather than an abuser which has helped.
The thing is, SWIM has major concerns that some harm may come to him should he decide to roll once more. These are largely irrational fears - the statistcs would indicate as much - but SWIM can't help but be worried about it.
I guess the question is: is this feeling of concern due to the fact that SWIM is older, wiser and more cautious in general or a warning sign that should be heeded?
Apologies for the rather generic post but SWIM guessed that the best place to get any sort of sensible input on this would be here - the regulars here are a breath of fresh air amongst a pretty stagnant internet.
Thanks in advance....
