Hi everyone,
I posted here a few times as PoisonBoyfriend but I seem to have lost my password and can't get it back. So here I am under my Bluelight screen name, starting over from 0 posts. Anyway, my topic: I recently started taking an MAOI antidepressant (aurorix), and my one experiment with a psychedelic while on this was not good. I took a normal (for me) dose of 20mg 4-HO-DIPT and my blood pressure and heart rate at the peak were very, very worrisome. I almost called 911. To add insult to near-injury, the trip itself was not nearly as enjoyable as iprocin was without the MAOI. It just seemed less powerful, less magical, more kind of tranquilized, or neutered, or something. Has anyone found this to be the case with MAOI combinations in general? Leaving aside the fact that my dose was unsafely high, I am curious whether other psychedelics combine better with an MAOI, besides oral DMT and other things that require it to be active at all. |

Combining any drug with MAOI's is potentially very,
very dangerous, especially psychedelics and other serotonin boosters. I'm not entirely sure which if any of the RC's have a MAOI action, but will definitely do some homework on it soon... Be very, very careful. MAOI's aren't prescribed that often anymore, in Briton at least, and there's good reason for that!Edited by: micklemouse Last edited by ~lostgurl~; 10-01-2009 at 06:11. ^^ I did do a fair amount of research before attempting this combo, and
I couldn't find anything conclusive about RC-MAOI interactions. Some (sketchy) reports indicated MAOIs potentiate tryptamine psychedelics, while other (sketchy) reports said they reduce the effects quite a bit. In my one experience BOTH could be said to be true with MAOI+iprocin. The physical side effects were definitely potentiated, while the mind-manifesting effects were reduced. Pretty much a lose-lose proposition. On the other hand, at least one first-hand report I read a while back indicated that shrooms+moclobemide was, for that experimenter, a very rewarding experience. <shrug> |

I've only heard very vert bad things about RCs and MAOI's. Had one friend that fliped out to the point no one wants to hang out with him on 2c-i and another that almost died on 2c-t-7. By the way MAIO's always potentiate the effects of psychedelics as a general rule.
