Question Lucky to be on suboxone?

So, I'm on suboxone maintenance therapy. I have been for about 6 months now I suppose and its an amazing drug, it truly is. I used to have one hell of an opiate habit and I guess I traded that in for a suboxone addiction. Either way, its been six months since I've got high off from an opiate/oid, and I'm just wondering. If my last dose of suboxone 20mgs. was last night at around 7 pm. how long should I wait til I do 50mgs of methadone to try and catch a buzz.
I'm a recovering addict so I know myself well enough to know better than to say "well I just want to get high one more time" But thats how I feel. My question to all of you is simply how long should I stay off my suboxone to get the blocking affects to go away well enough so that I could get high off of.. say 50mgs of methadone. I don't reallly plan on doing it tonight becuase I don't believe that it would even touch me. But maybe tomorow afternoon? Or longer than that? I don't know but any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. and I appologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for this type of thing, but I figure there are quite a few people who frequent this forum that are on suboxone therapy and might have an idea of how long I should wait.
Anyways, thank you all in advance for any response.

Re: Lucky to be on suboxone?

I say stick to the suboxone and forget about the methadone... if you've been opiate free for 6 months it's probably not worth it but I've never done heroin so maybe someone else here could be of more help than I...

Re: Lucky to be on suboxone?

Like methadone Subuxone has a very long halflife, so the longer you wait the better. It might take away withdrawals after 24-30 hours but you won't get a high. That's what Swim thinks anyway.. Have you looked into the subforums? There is a very good one about sub only which probably has the answer to your question but Swim thinks she may not advertise other forums here...
(by the way: if Swim were Swiy she would not touch methadone again either... Swim wants to get a subtreatment but can't get it! So she is still on the Bl**dy done and hates it)

Re: Lucky to be on suboxone?

Keeping myself clean from opiates/oids is far more important to me than catching that buzz. Thank your replys. I'm just gona flush those things down the toilet and forget about it. Suboxone truly is an amazing drug and I am lucky to be on it.
I'm sorry to here that you can't get a script for sub. It makes life much easier, not having to worry about my next fix and all. Not to mention that the craving for opiates that I used to have were terrible until I got on maintanence therapy.
All I can say is that sub is almost a miracle drug. I never would have been able to even SAY that I was going to flush methadone or any opiate down the toilet. It wouldn't have made sense to me, but now it can be said and done.
Thanks again for your replys.

Re: Lucky to be on suboxone?

Swim is happy for you and hopes he will get on his methadone script asap. He has an appointment to see a Dr, Consultant Psychiatrist on the 21st that he's been waiting 8 months for but he wont get his script on that day the letter says so he hopes he doesn't have to wait anymore weeks or months that would just kill him.

According to this page it takes around two weeks before the cancellation effects wear off.
