jeez, isn't his resting heart rate like 26 beats a minute or something nuts... because his heart is so big and strong.... if this substance didn't make swim lose a testicle.. would like to know what it was

If David Walsh doesn't explicitly state what the performance enhancing "drug" is then it's difficult to draw any meaningful conclusions. There is a fine line between performance enhancing by elicit means and legitimate means. Professional cycling (in my humble opinion) places unreasonable demands on the human body. It is not possible to expend *that* much effort consistently day after day like they do in events such as The Tour.


My only qualification to comment on this is that in my own lowly way I have represented the UK internationally cycling so I have witnessed, first-hand, the fit, the super-fit and the unbelievably fit.


Either way I have nothing but the utmost respect for champions like Mr Armstrong. Mere mortals (like the rest of us) cannot comprehend the effort that winning (at the top level) demands.

that's the thing, even with performance enhancing drugs... you have to perform and put effort in, steroids don't make you gain muscle if you don't work out. he still did a sh*tload of work, and must be addicted to cycling.
