Pre and Post supplementation
when should swim take dose of Tyrosine and 5-HTP. how long before trip.. and how long after?
swim already takes 100mg 5-htp as he is coming down and totally eliminates the hangover the next day |

A Certain Mouse recommends caution pre-loading with 5htp - he has known experiences get very messy (& not in a good way!) when doing this. Symptoms have included blurred vision, memory loss, lack of co-ordination, slurred speech, inappropriate sitting down in the middle of dance-floors & inability/refusal to move requiring removal by female rugby players, all sorts of embarrassing stuff. Some people however have reported no negative results from pre-loading, so a bit of home experimentation is perhaps called for before taking this combination into the big bad world! Do remember though that 5htp & mdma are both serotonergic agents, so the combination should be treat with caution - mixing serotonergics can heighten the chance of Serotonin Syndrome. Recommendation for timing - a good 4-6 hours after end of peak.
A Certain Mouse has no experience with Tyrosine, so cannot comment on this I'm afraid. |

If I'm remembering right tyrosine increases dopamine, something that could increase neurotixicity according to certain theories. MickleMouse is right about 5-htp, and only a small amount of people seem to get a boost from it versus blunting the roll or getting serotonin syndrome.

mmm yea, i rkn swim gets a boost from taking 5-htp. it somehow brings back the peak a little while swim is coming down.
swim is also wondering whether Tyrosine could also blunt the effects of the roll as some would say 5-HTP would if it were to be taken during a trip. and whether Tyrosine would have a boosting effect in anyway if it were to be taken during and/or pre.... |
