Now that SWIM has you here... here it goes
SWIM thinks that DMT is responsible for sex drive/sexual feelings and interpretations of them. Many users of DMT including SWIM find that it creates strong sexual feelings, SWIM almost thinks that alot of DMT is released during orgasm until SWIM thinks a serotonin storage is released, which results in a resolve. SSRI's have a common side effect of sexual dysfuntion, lack of sexual interest, loss in ability to get or retain an erection... Also DMT and 5-meo-dmt can and have had no, or very little effect on people taking SSRIs, specifically high doses in the system. Personally SWIM had no luck with three times the dose of 5-meo-dmt that worked for someone else when on a daily dose of 80mg prozac. So, if endogenous DMT were responsible for sexual feelings/interest/orgasm. It would make sense that SSRI's repress their natural function. SSRIs would boost serotonin which would likely overpower the DMTs ability to create sexual desire/feelings, essentially skipping it all the time. SSRIs would constantly be stimulating the resolution phase seen after orgasm, skipping the sexual desire caused by DMT all the time. It should also be noted that in one study, "growth hormone blood levels rose equally in response to all doses of DMT" so it would be possible that SSRIs could lower growth hormone to the same extent that they repress DMT, but not necessarily. If this were lack of growth hormone (somatotropin) could manifest itself in some of the other side effects involved with SSRIs treatments, i.e. hypogonadism, weight gain,(hgh deficiency can cause diminished lean body mass), increased cholesterol. These things all match up, SWIM didn't list sources but if you want to verify the verifyable it would be easy to find sexual DMT accounts, GH deficiency symptoms, SSRI side effects, the DMT/GH study. Please add to this, if something is drastically wrong let SWIM know. Though we may not be able to prove everything due to lack of studies at this point in time, what does everyone think??? If this has some serious validity then maybe the moderators can help it get more views somehow, this could potentially change what we know about the relationships of DMT to Growth Hormone to Serotonin. SWIM is eager for responses to see if anyone else thinks it quite bright. Maybe needs to be put in hir place though time will tell. |

Re: Could Change Medicine... MY Theory connecting DMT, SSRI's, and Growth Hormone..
To form an opinion on the post the responsibility of DMT and sexual feelings etc. besides saying that you think there is one... the reasoning seems tentative at most. Interesting, the info on the paper posted about the HgH / DMT connection. Perhaps add to the excellent archive of this site?

yes, difficult to prove but it is plausible, and would explain some things. swim just found a study that says growth hormone is supressed during ssri treatment, http://archpedi.ama-assn.org/cgi/con...ract/156/7/696.. so maybe dmt is the missing link?

Wow that all makes sense. Since I've been on SSRI's I havn't grown at all and I'm losing my hair and I can hardly get off when I'm having sex.

id get a source for that. and also what you are suggesting might be wrong due to the fact that you are kinda saying dmt is a neurotransmitter and that we have natural stores of it for sex? I dont think thats the case. Also your implying that endogenous dmt is not only a neurotransmitter, but acts on glands for the secretion of hormones. While the drug itself may, i dont know about what your implying. Sources and anatomy books and neuropsychopharacology books help. It depends on how dedicated you are to this. Another thing wrong is that while neurotransmitters effect sexual behavior like serotonin, there is alot more to it. Brain areas and hormones for one thing on top of what david buss would say are mating strategies. So to imply that there is only a duality between those two things and only two things would be wrong last but not least, what about ecstasy? You must have forgotten that. It causes the release of serotonin. Start there and see what you come up with. Ill come back and check and try and help you critique this theory. |
