LD50 - Hydrocodone

SWIM has never heard of LD50 before reading a post here and tried to look up hydrocodone's LD50.

As far as SWIM understands LD50 is the min. amount given to a certain animal that kills the animal.

SWIM read something about 300mg of Hydro for a Rat however that doesn't seem possible. Most people would OD taking 30 10mg esp. without tolerance.

Anyone have a more accurate LD50 or read any other studies on what amount sends a non-tolerant animal or person into an OD or death off Hydro?

LD50 infers the amount used in 100 test animals. People are generally excluded from this sort of experimentaion (though with Bush in the White House...). It means that 50 of 100 - or the statistical equivalent - died. It does not mean the other 50 walked away unscathed. There could well have been horrible damage done, but they lived. Sort of.

Rats, and other rodents, have a hyper-metabolism - making results very difficult to compare to a human being. So I would tend to agree that 300mg of hydrocodone would likely kill someone without tolerance to opiates.

well i dont know if you are thinking about pure hydro, but if you are wondering about vicoden,vicoprofen,lortab,generics,ect.. that contain hydro they also contain acetaminophen which cause liver failer at high doses. Just because one canot servive on a bunch of vic,lor,etc.. doesnt mean they couldn't servive on alot of hydro. Im just asuming youa re not aware because you stated something about taking around 30 10mg tabs, because hydro only comes in legal preps with par..,ibu..,etc.. enless you are using the
"cold extraction method" (for ace..)
