SWIM wanted to know what, if any, the effects of eating during or before a trip are..
Is eating food during a trip going to take away from the trip?.. SWIM has always had the idea that taking LSD on an empty stomach would provoke a harder trip than if say SWIM just had a 12oz steak.. is SWIM wrong? or should SWIM stop starving himself while on LSD? SWIM loves the combination of mary-jane and lsd, but when the munchies set in it's a hell of a time to settle them down.. it seems as though SWIM's trip deminished severly or almost ended immediately after eating chinese food one time... |

Re: Does eating food effect the trip?
You need to tell swim to eat BEFORE the trip so he'll have plenty of energy during his trip. Acid has a way of surpressing an appitite, and I'd say the best time to eat something is when your coming down. You wont believe just how good food tastes when your trippin!
Peace homie! |

Re: Does eating food effect the trip?
Most forms of LSD are absorbed in the mouth (i.e. blotter) not in the gut. Sublingual absorption is a very fast route into the system, and one reason that heart patients who take nitroglycerin and need it to act fast, place the nitro under the tongue. The conventional wisdom is that eating and tripping are fine. Stop starving SWIY.
OTOH, not everything can be absorbed sublingually. With substances that are taken orally and absorbed by the gut, the rationale behind taking medications and such on an empty stomach is to prevent the digestive process from starting - it allows the medication to pass through the stomach and duodenum quickly and be absorbed by the small intestines rather than by the stomach. Much faster than if the digestive process is in full swing with a tummy full of dinner. |

Re: Does eating food effect the trip?
SWIM finds that eating during a trip can be difficult at times because he often gets a sort of phlegm or mucus caught in his throat towards the end of the trip, a common side effect of LSD. Usually SWIM would eat a large meal before tripping and then after the peak of the trip, he would eat something that is basic and easy to get down e.g. yogurt, fruit etc.

Re: Does eating food effect the trip?
SWIM would recommend noodles. Otherwise, just some soup (you know, either cup-noodles or those small portions of soup for cups as well), it's nice and creamy, which SWIM tends to enjoy, and the noodles are fun to play with
