Cigars: Do they go off?

Do natural cigars go off? SWIM has some that he's had placed in a light wooden box at room temperature for over a year which smell a little funny, look dry and have a very light layer of white silky dust on them. Is this normal? SWIM's only using the tobacco skin for a blunt but is curious to know whether this is a regular thing that happens with cigars left as described.

Re: Question about cigars go off

Cigars are normally stored in a humidor, basically an airtight box damp sponges in the bottom or something else that is kept moist. The moisture evaporates slowly and keeps the cigars moist.
Humidors cost lots of money so a more realistic option is a glass jar or a sealable bag with something in it to keep the cigars moist like a small piece of lettuice or orange peel, very small.
You may even be able to re-hydrate the cigars you've got using this method.
Sounds crazy but it's the same way to re-hydrate weed if it's too dry or has been crushed.

Re: Question about cigars go off

SWIM ended up using their skins anyway. They seemed fine. Not mouldy enough to make a significant difference.
