Paranoid Hallucinations
SWIMS sister is looking outside right now saying people are after her. We stood there and watched with her and noone was there. She swears there's people out to get her. She says she only takes Adderall but it sounds like Meth to me. Is it possible that just Adderall and possibly no sleep for days can cause this? She is out of her mind, looking in neighbors yards saying there's people there. What is she on?

Re: Paranoid Hallucinations
It sounds like classic amphetamine psychosis (or other CNS stimulants). Aggravated by (surprise!) lack of sleep. Often when a person is undergoing this malady, they are quite aware that they are acting in an insane manner - but they have no control "over the raving madman (or woman)" who has taken over center-stage.
This can occur, in sensitive persons, with prescription doses of amphetamines such as Adderall (rarely). Though it is more likely that your distant relative has exceeded the prescribed dosage, or been using other stimulants - such as meth. This is not the issue at present though. Right now the focus should be on keeping the person from self-harm until they can get some (long) sleep. Administration of a sedative may be indicated, but a physician should be consulted beforehand to make certain there are no contra-indications with the person's current medical history. After they recover, then the person may well decide that once was more than enough. One can only hope. Last edited by Nagognog2; 23-12-2006 at 06:21. |

Re: Paranoid Hallucinations
hell yes it adderall could do that under the right circumstances
-ALOT of adderall (much more than a doc would ever perscribe) -sleep deprivation (no sleep in several days) -malnutrition (not having anything to eat or drink for several days) |

Re: Paranoid Hallucinations
Yep - SWIM experienced the same at the Roskilde Festival last year.
First he thought it could had been because he'd smoked too much weed, but then found out, it was a combo of way too much amphetamine, too little sleep, and way too much weed (due to he couldn't pass out because of the amphetamines). |

Re: Paranoid Hallucinations
Someone in other forum said that when you're sleep deprived for long time, your brain automatically sets up for sleep but it can't do it properly or doesn't know how as can't shut off dopaminergic transmission. I tried to find any scientific evicence of this but failed. You know if this is right or was just bulshit talking??
This would somehow explain weird hallucinations from sleep deprivation |
