Surgery?

How long before surgery (nothing major, just 30 minutes simple plastic surgery) should someone stop smoking ice, if the smoking has been every day for the past 2 months but still can sleep and eat most days?

SWIM guesses that SWIY should wait 3 -4 days so that the meth is out of SWIY's system.

SWIM has had surgery twice in the past 2 years, both times she IV'd methamphetamine approx 10 hours prior to surgery, one surgery was major and took about 4 hours, the other was just a 10 minute procedure. Before surgery her blood pressure was taken and was slightly low, but SWIM's blood pressure is usually slightly low.

No adverse effects, but SWIM would not reccommend it, at the times of SWIM's surgerys she was feeling very depressed and was almost hoping to die, it seemed like this would be an easier way for it to happen rather than having to actually make the decision to kill herself, so SWIM was living dangerously. SWIM also had a small amount to eat before surgery which is a big no-no because if there are any complications during the procedure, (which there easily could be especially with methamphetamine) and the patient throws up it could end up in said patients lungs and kill them.

Has SWIY had any surgery in the past that involved the use of a general anaesthetic? Some people have allergic reactions to it so if SWIY has never had surgery this increases the risk involved.

Also is SWIY on any medications? SWIM was on a variety both times and was told to take them at the usual times.

At the end of the day it is SWIY's life, there is not a lot of info out there on these interactions, and any surgery involving a general anaesthetic has risks involved. 4 days without methamphetamine is not gonna kill ya, so why take the risk?

Appreciate the reply! SWIM feels much better after reading SWIY's post. SWIM has had surgery before, no problems, no allergies, not on any medication. Also SWIM wants to play it safe and has been/will be, off it for a week before surgery. It's not fun, but it is wise! Thanks again!
