mixing methadone with other opiates/opiods

SWIM's friend recently gave him a bunch of pills for free. He usually starts off the day by taking 10 mg of methadone...and then some oxycontin on top of that. Does anyone know if that is safe for swim to mix? Does anyone know if the oxy will cover up the feeling of the methadone or visa versa?

The methodone takes a bit longer to kick in than the oxy, leaving one to believe that they must increase their high by taking more of one or the other. This can lead to an OD. The drugs themselves will probably have an additive effect with the high, although some people report that methodone seems to block the effects of other opiates for them.

Unless SWIY has a high tolerance already, swiy should probably avoid mixing the two, or even taking a whole methadone. Try 5 mg first and give it at least 4 hours to kick in (yes, it really takes this long for it to kick in sometimes!)

Swim regularily takes methadone with other opiates and finds no ill effects but bear in mind swim has an extremely high opiate tollerence, swim would agree with swif it is best to start small and increase the doses if necessary and try to have someone with you who you trust just to make sure your ok.

Having someone with SWIY is really good advice, actually. Especially if SWIY is relatively inexperienced with opiates and has access to the more powerful ones. SWIY should learn how each opioid feels on its own and how swiy reacts to them before even thinking about combining them with one another or other types of drugs. Opioids can be dangerous and easily fatal when mixed, so start very slow, give SWIYself a few days off (at least) in between days of use, and have someone around. If SWIM is sounding overly cautious and nagging in his advice, so be it. SWIM has seen what can happen when people treat these drugs lightly, from sickness, to addiction, to overdoses and death, and SWIM can say that it is best for SWIY in the long run to treat these drugs with the utmost respect if SWIY is going to use them at all.

Methadone is used to treat opiate addicts. They use it because methadone BLOCKS the effects of other opiates..... SWIM could shoot up every drop of oxy and not feel it one bit (don't try this though).... Do one or the other, but not both. Also SWIM has noticed that it takes about 3-4 days after methadone before one can feel the full effects of other opiates again.

That's not necessarily true in all cases. It's SWIM's understanding that some methadone is indeed made/prescribed with an additional drug in it that blocks the effects of other opiates. In other cases it's not. Generally speaking in SWIM's city the methadone prescribed does not have opiate inhibiter in it and can be/is used in addition to other opiates to increase the effects. It's certainly the case for the juice SWIM's on.
