the future or lack of otc codeine in Canada

If swiy lives in Canada and hasn't by now realized the most hassle free & inexpensive way to ride an opaite buzz, then stop here and click back.

lately swim has been podering how long it's going to take.. (cause it seems inevitable) until the availability of otc codeine in this fine country of his becomes a thing of the past. With all the recent hullabaloo (select Canadian pharmacies refusing to sell codeine otc) and exposure to its availability and such through blogs mainly..heck when swim talks with other drug users, cwe questions come up a lot more, where as before you would only find it being spoken about in chat rooms and message boards.

Swim has also considered another way pharmaceutical companies (with big dea funding obviously) could put an end to simple water extraction. Wouldn't it suck if they replace or modify the acetaminophin with something that cannot be so easily seperated.

Anyways what are some other takes on the subject?

Re: the future or lack of otc codeine in Canada

SWIMs thoughts are that pharmaceutical companies want to maximize their profits. They cant directly modify the codeine or APAP to make CWE not work, although they could make pills that gel up if they contact water. This would only be done if they are forced to by the government though, since it takes money to research this and then change the pill production to make new kinds. Additionally they will continue marketing to pharmacies, and most pharmacies will still sell them, if there is money to be made and they are not forbidden to do so.
