Religion of Druggies

Swim is in an inquisitive mood this rainy afternoon, and was just thinking about Drugs and religion. Swim is very curious to see if how swiy's drug use might affect your views on religion, your practice of religion, arguments for drugs within religion etc etc etc, and see if perhaps there is any predominant religions amongst heavy users. Please repost with anything you've got to help sate this new kick of swims. If anyones game reply with your religion and how drugs may or may not have affected your ideas and practice of it. Lets see where this goes. What happens to the spider when it gets caught in its own web?

Re: Religion of Druggies

I consider myself a simple man who believes in a higher power. I hate organized religion as it turns smart people into rhetoric spouting robots and is the reason for almost every war ever in the history of mankind.

Re: Religion of Druggies

Swim is agnostic and has been agnostic since he was a child so nothing to do with any drugs at all. He doesn't hate any religion, in fact there is a lot to learn from organised religions and swim believe that if someone has faith in any particular religion and it makes them happy then all credit to them. However, people should not be criticised for not holding thrse beliefs; what i do hate is people trying to force their religion onto other people.

Re: Religion of Druggies

I vote this thread is replaced by the other religion thread or the two are merged somehow. This one didn't seem to get much attention while the other one has alot of good posts.

Re: Religion of Druggies

About 6 months after first experiencing salvia, SWIMs philosophy teacher at collage was teaching the class about "miracles and religious experience" as a topic. The teacher (of Christian belief) gave an example he had witnessed himself, and explained that at a church he worshiped at a man had been pulled to his seat and believed it to be the power of god. Our teacher reported that on talking to him the man said he felt as if someone had grabbed the back of his coat and pulled him down, the force being such that he had no choice but to sit down. SWIM was bursting to mention that he had experienced exactly this while enjoying salvia but did not due to the situation. SWIM does not believe there is a god or higher being in existence at this time but feels that shows at least to an extent that both religion and drugs can access the same areas, and if SWIM were religious this would lead him to believe that a connection, experience or understanding of god or a higher being could be aided with the use of drugs.
