Tolerance Question regarding opiates

Hello,

SWIM did 40mg of oxycodone via IV at around 2PM today and was wondering if taking 20mg of oxy at aruond 10:30PM would be worth while or a waste of the oxy due to tolerance.

Fast replys appreciated as SWIM has a headache and would like to know if the oxy will help or not.

~Thanks

Re: Tolerance Question regarding opiates

The 20 mg of oxy would still probably have a noticable effect, at least where SWIY is at right now with tolerance. It would certainly help the headache. The effective dose for helping with pain is much lower than the recreational dose, and that holds true for all opiates.

Tell SWIY to be careful with that re-dosing though. It's a really easy way to build tolerance and become addicted very quickly.

Re: Tolerance Question regarding opiates

Most short acting opiates only last about 4-8 hours tops, so redosing would work, but will also help one build a larger tolerance if it is continued with any regularity... Oxy's can be time release, but still rarely ever lasted more than 6 hours for swim..

Re: Tolerance Question regarding opiates

If swiy is looking for efficacy, tell him to go ahead, but not to expect the same quality buz for atleast 24 to 48 hours of no drug at all. Also, tell him to heed swiSevenLakes. Opiate addiction is no joke!
