Re: Aloha..............
Before you continue to post, Hawaiian, do be sure to review the rules fully:
http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/ann...t.php?f=43&a=1 Regards "doors and fours" - which was/is a combination of the barbituate-like sedative/hypnotic Doriden and Tylenol 4 (325mg acetaminophen, 60mg codeine phosphate) - Vicodin would act similarly to codeine as it contains hydrocodone, whereas Soma (carisoprodol) does act as a soporific in larger quantities. It is chemically closely related to the popular pre-Valium tranquilizer Meprobamate. Mixing narcotics with any sedative runs the extreme risk of cross-potentiation and overdose/death from respiratory depression. Definitely NOT recommended. You just won a warning. You failed to read the rules regarding flaming. Leave alone outright ethnic, or nationalistic, bigotry.

Re: Aloha....Narcotic/Sedative Combinations
Also, just in case anyone thinks this combination might be a good idea...opiates are opiates, more or less. There are subtle differences between each, but overall most people report that they all have a similar "feel". Mixing hydrocodone with carisoprodol or other sedatives won't make hydrocodone feel "more like heroin". It will just make the experience much more dangerous for the reasons stated above. Most any opiate will feel somewhat like heroin to a degree, although the naturally occurring ones such as morphine and codeine will seem to approximate the effect a bit more than synthetics.
This pharmacological curiosity is probably best relegated to the realms of history, rather than anything that a SWIM should be testing empirically. |

Swim found this quote: http://www.opioids.com/hydrocodone/hydrohyst.html They call it the Las Vegas Cocktail, but you won't find it served at hotel bars or table-side in the casinos. A potent mix of hydrocodone and the muscle relaxer Soma gives the user a heroin-like euphoria without needle marks. It's also one of the most popular recreational drug combinations in the United States. The street value of the cocktail's ingredients is high. One former Las Vegas physician-turned-dealer made as much as $1 million selling the drugs on the black market, according to federal prosecutors. Luisito Evangelista, banned from practicing medicine in Nevada, used his Illinois DEA registration to buy more than 500,000 hydrocodone pills. Evangelista, who pleaded guilty to drug trafficking in 1999, died in a federal prison last year. Soma is the nation's most abused noncontrolled substance, according to the DEA. Nevada's pharmacy board is considering reclassifying it, making it more difficult for addicts to gather the cocktail's ingredients. Because Soma isn't a scheduled narcotic, Nevada officials aren't sure how many prescriptions are being written each year. "If we do schedule Soma and start to track it, we expect the numbers to match those for hydrocodone," Ling said. "And we know the two being used together can be a hallmark of abuse." Pehaps there is more to the combination than people who haven't partaken realize. JS - |

Re: Aloha....Narcotic/Sedative Combinations
SWIM has had the combination, and while it is enjoyable, its also dangerous (but all things drug related are, one supposes). SWIM's point was more that it does not feel any more like heroin than hydrocodone does, and SWIM wanted to dissuade the inexperienced (who would have a decent shot at compiling the ingredients) from potentially harming themselves. The chance of respiratory depression with this one is rather high, after all. SWIM is guessing alot of the appeal is the marketing behind it, "the heroin like high without track marks"...most people have not done heroin but imagine it to be the most relaxing feeling ever. SWIM is guessing that many users would be eager to get something for nothing, i.e. to feel like they took heroin without having the stigma of taking it. Heroin is a line many users won't cross. Just SWIM's .02.
