Among the many US agencies that on federal and state level, are fighting the war on drugs one of the most secretive and lesser known is the " National Drug Intelligence Service". They are plainclothes , some of them are not even cops, just professionals in many different fields, they are active both in the US and abroad and their methods are known to be specially nasty even by US standards.
