Did you ever stop and think about...
Well today most of our common drugs come from plants and natural resorces... Billions of years ago(Around the dinosaur age) there were compleatly diffrent plants and resorces.

Has anyone ever wounderd what kinds of drugs could be made out of the plants in those days? Like a super hearb plant... the possibiltys are endless!

It just wounders me to think about what great substances could of been made billions of years ago.

It makes you wonder if there is such a thing as a Psycho-Paleo-Botanist!

That would be quite cool, though I would be seriously freaked out to ingest one of those hallucinogenic plants and then see a T. Rex coming towards me! :P


It also makes you think about current substances around today. Like Mimosa hostilis for instance, and marijuana and salvia. How long have these plants been around? Did they just emerge a few thousand years ago, or have they been on the planet for much longer? I would love to learn more about this.

How would you feel to be the lucky or unlucky person who tried some of those plants for the first time? Swim has ponder that question for years now. Did the shamans have people that he gave these plants do just to see the effects?

Swim is guessing that alot of these plants have only been around for maybe 10,000 years or less. He remembers hearing something about mostly ferns and related plants being the only ones to have existed since the time of the dinosaurs.

Swim finds it conceivable though that psilocybin has been around much longer, maybe even pre-dinosaur. Who knows, maybe some hapless herbivore was the first creature to trip.

in regards to old hippies question, swim is willing to bet that after the discovery of one psychoactive, there would be more than a few people willing to take the job of guinea pig!
