COCAINE PLANTS

BOGOTA, Colombia - A key component of the U.S.-backed war on drugs appears to be failing.

Despite record drug seizures and spraying of herbicides, production of the plant used to make cocaine increased by 8 percent in Colombia, to 330 square miles, the United Nations said Tuesday - even as authorities sprayed coca fields totaling 25 times the size of Manhattan.

A large part of the problem is that the US backed government is integrally involved with narco-trafficking. The US administration does not care about drugs, only about US hegemony, the US empire, as sadskills1987 says. Much of the money for the so-called war on drugs goes into right wing militias. The neocons are much more worried about Chavez than cocaine.
