Police test 'drugs' from school

Tests are being carried out on the substance brought home by the boy
Police are investigating a claim that a five-year-old boy brought drugs home from a school in Dundee.

The youngster was found to have a bag containing a suspicious substance when he returned home on Thursday.

Tayside Police began an investigation after a complaint was lodged by a member of his family.

The boy, who has not been named, is not thought to have ingested any of the substance, but was taken to hospital as a precaution.

It will be several days before police tests confirm what the youngster had in his possession.

The school has not been named and Dundee City Council said it would be inappropriate to comment during a police investigation.

A Tayside Police spokesman said: "We are conducting inquiries after a five-year-old boy returned home from school in Dundee yesterday with a suspect substance.

"Officers are investigating how the boy came into possession of the substance and tests are being carried out to determine what it is."
