Legal uses for ketamine?

SWIM is currently living in the U.S., and he was wondering... What are the legal uses for ketamine today? SWIM heard of several people getting it through the local veterinarian. How would you do this? SWIM thinks it would be rather sick to purposely harm an animal or pet just to get some K. SWIM is not sure if this is how they do/did it, but that is just his guess.

Is there any other way of legally getting K?
Do they still prescribe it for anything?

The reason SWIM wanted me to ask you this is that he has been searching for K for quite some time now, with no luck.

Please remember, SWIM is not looking for any specific suppliers, so please don't violate the sources rule and get this closed.

Thanks in advance,
-RGM

Ketamine was unscheduled up until August 1999. In early July 1999 the DEA added Ketamine to schedule III with an emergency ruling...which took effect August 12, 1999. Ketamine is now federally illegal to possess in the United States without a license or prescription.

Over the past two years, ketamine has been scheduled in many states, and laws are pending in many more. Now that Ketamine is federally illegal, it is expected that most states will also eventually schedule it. If ketamine is not scheduled in a specific state, all prosecutions for possession or sales would have to happen at the federal level.

SWIM does not know of any states where ketamine is not scheduled. If SWIM is not mistaken it is still sparsely used on young kids and older people as a dissociative anaesthetic but if this still goes on it is probably very rare. It is commonly used on animals of all sizes ranging from small cats to large horses and cattle.

You will need to obtain ketamine through the black/grey market and doing so will likely be in violation of your state laws.

Ughh, I hate the U.S.
Thanks for the info, guess SWIM will just have to keep looking.

Vets, IME don't hand out ketamine to owners of animals - it's used exclusively for in-patient treatment of animals (anaesthetic, restraint)

One of my friend's friends is in his final year at uni and has a budget he can spend how he wants. On the list of chems he can buy is ketamine and as long as he can come up with a good reason why he needs it he gets it no questions asked, such a lucky bastard.

But that's going to be the problem then, coming up with a good reason.
Unless he is doing research on Ketamine he probaply won't find a good reason for it.
