took the liberty of translating this from a Russian forum. thought it makes for an interesting read to those in love with subj:
'And so it goes, even my ship ended up in a storm. Duration of fairly full-time use - just about over a year and a half. The motor (heart) was the first to show problems; a recent medical evaluation showed the following: Arterial cardiosclerosis, Sinusoidal tachycardia, Transitory extrasystolic fluctuations, Incomplete block of the right stem of the atrioventricular bundle of His, Heightened predisposition to chronic cardiac insufficiency… And it all started so magically. Yet another proof that nothing comes for free… Here’s the catch – the evil insidiousness of GBL is that while you are getting ‘stuck’ you consider the events taking place with and all around you as totally normal, things are just as they should be. No warning bells going off in the head…until the ambos began making their rounds – friends’ motors started giving out on the comedowns. And then one fine day, even yours truly gets burnt – thought I’d die for real, insane tachycardia, motor going extrasystolic, feels just like the heart is about to choke for the final time and stop. Only much later did the benefits of tianeptine when GBL is leaving your system became known. Diagnosis was based on EKG and ultrasound performed by a cardiologist friend. We chowed GBL straight up, occasionally cooked with base, and I’ll tell you an excess of base does the system not much good either. In fact the worst cardiac problems arose after consumption of the cooked batch - got physically hooked on that one after about 4 days, difficult getting off the cycle. A torn bunch of ligaments in the leg helped with that one, immobilising me motionless in the house for 14 days…during the recovery, a nagging pain in the heart region appeared, which was almost gone after 20-day treatment with mildronate, injections and capsules. GBL really fucks with kidney function, a slight excess of potassium could cause a crisis. Current pharmsupport for maintaining a semblence of function: Bisoprolol, Verapamil, Stablon, benzos. Otherwise, massive uncontrollable tachycardia, straight through the roof, right about breakfast time. What is G you ask? Hit the search. Not much more than an industrial solvent, a small epoch in my (and I venture others) life, a substitute for energy, a simultaneous stimulant and relaxant. I remember someone writing, ‘Sunshine in a plastic cup’..." |

All this from less that 2 years of use? Just goes to show, most things should be used in moderation, if at all.

I'm sorry, but I have to say that my opinion is that the GBL and the heart problems are probably unrelated.
The heart problems described are a conduction-delay problem, heart block (from nerves within the heart) and coronary artery disease. From the sounds of it, I would be almost 100% certain that the user had these problems before the GBL. Hence, the effects felt upon the heart while on the GBL--they were lying dormant during the year and a half of use and for probably 10 years prior as well. People always assume that medical problems stem from something that they've done or are currently doing usually out of guilt and/or shame from either an inability to quit or the feeling of getting out of control. Same goes for when parents have a retarded child or a child with some other type of birth defect. First thought is: "we caused this." Second thought is: "I did ecstacy 3 times in college. that's what caused this." Regardless, I'd like to see some details. AFAIK there is simply no relation between the heart problems and G. I wonder how old and what race this individual was. |

SWIM could see dopamine rebound causing arrythmias, but 6 YEARS of daily and sometimes excessive use left SWIM none the worse for wear, except missing that 'sunshine in a plastic cup' a great deal!
SWIM feels that the vast majority of problems with habitual GHB, GBL, or 14BDO are associated with the rebound and 24/7 use. SWIM never had any problems if use was moderate and allowed 12 hrs off a day. |

Yeah, it does say he had sinus tachycardia...
But the thing I don't get is the heightened predisposition toward cardiac insufficiency?? Is this just clarifying what they meant by the bundle branch block?? In my opinion, this is just like using one example to prove that a Faith Healer actually "healed" someone... just because the doctor says that he has no more signs of disease... more than likely due to a misdiagnosis in the first place. |
