Health - when is xanax (Alprazolam) dangerous?

I'm just wondering this for general knowledge, but when does xanax become dangerous to one's health? And, after the danger level is reached, how much of it will be considered lethal?

Benzos are fairly safe physically, SWIY would have to take a massive dose to OD but they can be lethal in combination with other downers. SWIM has heard of people taking hundreds od valium tabs and recovering.

i believe the max dosage allowed/prescribed is 10mg a day. Though I've seen people take much higher doses and come out fine. xanax kills when mixed with opiates or other sedatives as it depresses respiration.

Xanax (like other benzo's) becomes dangerous to SWIY's health in the following circumstances:

1) Combined with alcohol, opiates or other downers: Additive risk of respiratory depression and reduction of ability to protect SWIY's own airway.

2) With daily use over as little as 14 days: Physical withdrawal syndrome.

3) When stopping cold-turkey (after as little as 14 days): Seizures and death can result.

4) When SWIY comes to depend on their effects to deal with life.

Technically: The acute LD50 of alprazolam in rats is 331 to 2171 mg/kg (bit of a range there).

Use what you are used to . If you go over your tollerance you are taking risks. Some of the SWIMS have very high tollerances and can take more than the begginer. Go slow and carefull.

The other health risk inherent in benzos is doing something stupid that seems completely logical at the time, and that one may not remember later (taking more drugs, deciding to drink, or drive, etc.) SWIM has had to bail plenty of his friends out of fights they initiated while doing inane things at "recreational" levels of xanax.

yeah xanax gives a lot of people what i call "sticky hands." They just steal shit without thinking.

exactly, dopenose. or break other people's cigarettes, insult others for no reason, spill drinks at pubs, etc., then seem utterly confused when this somehow arouses others' wrath.
