poppy grow (need advice)

what are some mistakes neebies make when growing poppies,please be very specific and cover all the basics or things to look for and desired growing conditions,just any info that can be helpful,swim is tring it indoors in big pots and advice on lighting and atmosphere so they will be healthy and happy,thank you.(be specific with lighting there are over a thousand different light bulb types at big stores) neebies can get confused easily.
