Extracting poppy pod

Just out of curiosity if using the same method to produce hash oil using bud , could you do it using dried poppy pods (powdered) to extract the alkaloids into a oil that could be chased, be it in foil or glass pipe.

I did know which section to put this in as it is related I suppose.
Any replies would be appreciated.

I don't think so because THC is fat soluble and the various opiates in an opium poppy are water soluble. Nor do I think the chemicals in opium are "alkaloids". From what I've heard the best thing to do with the dried pods is to soak them in hot water to create a tea for drinking. I suppose you could dry the tea to create a residue. This is probably more trouble than it's worth and who knows the active ingredients might degrade in the process. In the time it took the water to dry, the exposure to heat or the exposure to light it might lose potency. If you want a smokeable you need to collect the milky latex that comes out of surfare scratches to the live poppy and dry it. That could be smoked on foil easily. I doubt a glass pipe would work very well. So in my opinion I think the tea would be the best way to go. Plus you won't damage your lungs. I'm opposed to smoking anything really.

a way swims friends do it using fresh poppy pods is cutting open the 'skin' layer of the pods and leaking out the poppy juice which should be white(?) then dried to black and it would be opium kinda looking like molasses

thanks u too. i am aware of how to obtain o from pod. the water extraction does work to get dry putty like o after the water as evaporated if anything its cleaner as the water removes the adulterants . i.e. dirt , stem , other shit from raw o.. and smoking on foil isn't really smoking u4ic as it is coming of in a vapor so i doubt it does any real damage to lung tissue as its not like its tobacco smoke or weed smoke.
