Medical advice about the liver

Does doing the grapefruit and tums trick for extending opiates like hydrocodone also increase the toxic effects of the acetaminophen on the liver.
Im hoping that the grapefruit juice just binds up opiate receptors or whatever allowing a longer period in the bloodstream with no effect on the acetaminophen. If anyone actually knows for sure I & my liver would like to know. I bet shemmy can answer this one.

I have heard that yes, it does make it more toxic to your liver. I cant remember exactly why but you can figure it might be for some of the same reasons it enhances opioids and other drugs. Grapefruit juice never worked for me anyway, no idea why, feels like i get more without it almost. Anyway milk thistle extract is suppose to be real good for your liver and preventing liver damage, so you could pick up some of that if your concerned.

Also, cold water extraction of course.

Acetaminophen is also processed by the enzyme that grapefruit juice, for whatever reason, inhibits. So yes, it does increase the potential for acetaminophen induced liver damage.
